WINGLED HUSSAR SADDLES
These are the first thoroughly reconstructed winged hussar saddles, based on artefacts and icons, taking into account the internal structure, i.e. the saddle tree and the pillows. Thanks to the 3D modelling and CNC technology, the shape of the saddle tree and the seat profile of the surviving pieces can be accurately reproduced with precision.
A great contribution to expand the knowledge about this equipment was made
by the doctor of history, Radosław Sikora by handing me a lot of graphics and icons. He is an author of many historical books about Polish winged hussars.
Acquired pictures and iconography help us to understand how the base of the hussar saddle was constructed, i.e. saddle tree, how the pillows were fixed, what materials were used. They truly show the metal decorations and embroidery, the types of the girths fastening, fixing of the harness, the mounting point of the stirrups and their look, glued canvas and birch bark and also the appearance of the wings.
